Tip! It’s best to assemble the desk in the area where it will ultimately be placed and just shift it slightly, rather than assemble elsewhere and try to pick it up and move it.
Set the table top down and press firmly (I leaned on ours with all of my body weight for a couple of minutes!) to make sure the velcro adheres. Be sure that it’s aligned on the front and outer edges. Arrange your table so that the legs are on the opposite side, and position the blank end of the table top over the drawers. Decide which end of the desk you’d like the drawers to be on.Remove the cover of the top pieces of all velcro strips so that the top sticky portion is exposed.Keep both sides of the velcro together and remove one side’s cover so that the sticky portion is exposed. Apply a few strips of velcro to the top of the set of drawers.Attach the two table legs to the underside of one end of the table.

We hacked these desks together from a few different IKEA parts for a total steal, and they’ve been one of our best ideas ever. Improvements could include deeper shelves, a narrow drawer under the desktop, and reinforcement in the center of the desktop to dampen sound. I'll buy a foam mat or writing pad that should help with this. Also, the desk top is very loud when I type or write. (The picture must use miniature books.) I'm not sure how this got past the design phase except deeper shelves make the desk a few inches deeper. The main issue is the shelves: they're 6.5" deep so paper won't fit. Space gets tight from there: with a mouse next to the wider keyboard, there is limited space for a tablet to take notes. I was happy a 24" monitor fits behind a laptop and keyboard (with number pad).
